The actual bubble (incase you were worrying) is massive! I geekily edited the lamp post in the background out!
I know alot of people think Internet Explorer is rubbish, but unfortunatly web developers have to (or should) design their sites to comply with IE standards.
I would however recommend using Firefox insead, which is a free alternative to Internet Explorer and is generally thought to be safer. However one of the best features for web developers is the web developer toolbar, which allows amoung other things, on-the-fly CSS editing and the like.
Microsoft are working on their own web developers toolbar, which is in the Beta stage at the moment which will be extremely useful. It dosent look quite as good yet, but has a load of features!
When I woke up this morning, I was in a fairly cheeful mood, ready to face another day of revision. However this was soon put to a stop when I watched a program on Channel 4 about Pro-Ana, or pro anorexia websites.
The people featured on the program were young and trying to rapidly loose weight. The Pro-Ana websites encourage members of their so called ‘community’ to continue loosing weight and giving tips on how they can speed up loss. The website also provide and encourage techniques for hiding eating disorders from friends and family members.
It was all extremely disturbing, but perhaps the most disturbing part was the letter from Anorexia to its sufferers. In this fairly poetic letter, it encourages its ‘followers’ to cut themselves if they eat food as punishment.
I think this is perhaps the most disturbing thing I have learned about the Internet in a long time. It got me thinking why nobody is doing anything about it. Surely the government(s) should be attempting to put a stop to it, and if not government(s), the company which hosts the websites should surely have an obligation to try and stop such sites.
I’m not sure if these sites are illegal, but in my opinion they should be. Its one thing for websites to offer support to sufferers of eating disorders, but advice on how to achieve extreme weight loss is not support, its a negative influence on already impressionable and fragile people.
This also got me thinking about whether it should be legal to hack websites that are illegal, I dont know!
So today is my last day of revision before my first exam, and understandably I am going to start to revise!
This seasons revision avoidance has been very successful, perhaps a little too successful, so today I’m starting something different, revision-avoidance avoidance! My plan is to get tanked up on Whittards Caffine Kick coffee and get to it. However I predict that this may backfire if I have excess caffeine and may end up doing data structures revision while running up and down stairs!
Time will only tell!
There has been a blog explosion over the last week with 4 of my friends getting a blog!
Baggy is the latest to join the group with his originally named baggy.org.uk !
I think over the last few years my geeky computer-ness has corrupted Katharine which has transpired into her starting her own blog! WOAH!
Her blog (To See or Not to See) is mostly about films and reviews rather than the everyday randomness you may find on this site!

So I’m back in Manchester and just about settled in.
Half way up the M6 yesterday I realized I may not have been totally prepared to return as I began to remember an endless list of things I had forgotten. Among the list are:
These are just a few in an ever increasing list! I suppose I will just have to get them in a few weeks.
On returning to the house, Duncan and I tackled the unopened mail to find our worst fears realized, we have to pay the gas bill! We have been avoiding dealing with this for the last few months, to the extend that we haven’t actually changed the name on the gas bill. Oh well, only a few months left in the house anyway!
I got a call from the landlord yesterday. It was nice to finally talk to him, although all he wanted was to warn us that there would be a group coming to look at the house for next year!
Revision avoidance is going well… as you can probably tell from the frequency of posts!
Tonight was the last night in Coventry, and tomorrow I will head back up to Manchester.
It will be sad to leave, its been a great Christmas but I suppose we must all at some point return to the real world!
Exams start next week so I will probably be posting more frequently in an attempt to avoid revision!
On a slightly less boring note, i found out today that last years Darwin Awards have been released. They sound a little fictional to me but they are certainly entertaining! (p.s. dont clean your chimney with a hand grenade)

Adam has started a blog today which will undoubtably be hilarious so check it out over the following weeks!
Check it out: evilfishadam.co.uk
On another note, I got paid today which means I can go to the pub. I was worried I would have to break the tradition but all is well.

An additional welcome to Matt and his new blog: blog.galloway.me.uk aptly named One Eye Open!

A while ago I purchased an FM transmitter from eBay so I could play songs from my Nano on the radio in the car. However when the transmitter arrived, it wouldn’t work! So I sent it back and got another one (months later).
The second transmitter just about worked for about 10 min of use, and then killed itself. So I have decided to give up on it.
Apparently these devices are illegal because of archaic radio licensing legislation, but I doubt the one I had was illegal because if didn’t actually transmit anything!
Anyway, don’t buy one of these!
