Firefox CSS Rendering Differences

I noticed when changing to web development under linux, that there are some quite significant CSS rendering differences between Firefox under Windows and Linux. I made the assumption when developing in windows that the CSS worked the same in both versions of Firefox, but as the following image demonstrates, they don’t!
Linux and Windows Comparison
As you can see, in Linux the width of the form input element is different. I know this probably isn’t the best image, but both are using the defalt css for input boxes (i.e. borders havent been changed) and as you can see the Linux versions are a fair bit wider. I thought it may be to do with the shadowing of input boxes, but when testing with borders of 1px black on each, the results were the same.
The only solution was to set the exact width of the input boxes! Something to bear in mind!

Manchester Treasure Hunt

Today it was Ruth M’s birthday, so a load of guys from Intension did a treasure hunt around town! I was a quality but tireing experience.

The way it worked was that when Ruth got home, she found an envelope with the first clue in it, and a piece of paper telling her what was going on!

At this point it could have gone terribly wrong if she hadnt seen the bit of paper! We were all at this point scattered around town!

There were 10 clues in all pointing to places around town with a person, a present and another clue!
Ruth also only had 45 min to get to all of them, so it was also a bit of an endurance race!

Steve and Stevo came up with the clues, there are a few in jokes which you may struggle with so I have added a few hints! See if you can get them!:

Clue number 1 (Extra clue, one of the only places in the N4 with one of these)
This is your CUE to start the race
If you have the BALLS to look in this place.
Put your money on the TABLE

Clue number 2

Under or near the music machine.

Clue number 3

The biggest guitar with sex appeal

Clue number 4 (I doubt youll get this one! As you dont know Owen Crane, or where Ruth’s Dad Works)
Take the first name of a man called crane
Work for your daddy is one and the same

Clue number 5
A passage where knowledge and government meet
From Albert to Peter its barely a street

Clue number 6
TRains from here depart no more
At the top of the stEps by the glass front door
behind the hotel you’ll be doing well
Look even Closer how well caN you spell

Clue number 7
Ships meet land when they get to the ______
Will you get this you may need our support
Think really hard its all in the name
Music’s the key to our little game…….TD12

Clue number 8
Higher and higher with H2O
Blasts and jets as they ebb and flow.

Clue number 9
Regular place for community fun
Not much heating but plenty of SON!

Clue number 10
And now we come to the journeys end.
The prize that awaits you is just round the bend.
The result is in another square
So don’t pull the answer from out of the air!

I’m not dead!

I realised that I hadn’t updated you all about the £7 – 7 days thing. I didn’t die from starvation and actually ended up only spending £1.70 ish over the 7 days.

I’m sure all the walking did me good, and no junk food which is also good! Although I guess I did cheat a bit, eating at Katharine’s on two evenings.

Haven’t really been up to much apart from that, although I was in Coventry over the weekend, and I’m glad to say… its still there!

I’m off to the land of IKEA today with Steve, Stevo and Katharine which should be a jolly trip. I’ll let you know how it goes, as I’m sure you are all very excited by the prospect of flat-pack furniture!
