Intension Wallpaper

intension_background_thumb1.jpg
I am in the middle of exams at the moment and get extremely bored. I decided I needed a new desktop wallpaper in a period of total boredom so decided to make one.

The image on the right is the wallpaper I came up with. It is loosely based on a Firefox wallpaper, but when I say loosely I really do mean it!

R.I.P. The Bainmobile

BravaYesterday morning, Stevo and I were on our way to work in the late Bainmobile when the car suddenly lost power. This was my first clue that something was not right!

Unfortunately, the place at which we had lost power was one of the busiest roads in the whole of Manchester, the Mancunian Way, and worst of all, we were quickly approaching the worst part of rush-hour. So I pointed the car at the side of the road and managed to stop safely. When I called the RAC they decided we were a bit of a priority and sent somebody round after an hour or so. I guessed it was probably the cam belt and the nice RAC man confirmed it when he arrived.

You may ask yourself, how could one belt in a car, cause the car to be written off? Well the cam belt is the bit of the engine which times the pistons and the valves. It keeps the two from ever meeting during the working of the engine, however when it breaks, the pistons whack into the valves and your engine is screwed!

It could have been a lot worse thought, I’m just glad it happened somewhere we could get to the side of the road and not on a motorway!

Apple’s iPhone – Amazing

Apple's iPhone

Yesterday saw the launch of a range of new Apple products. Several products were unveiled, including a media centre which Apple wanted to call iTV but due to copyright, they had to settle with Apple TV. The most interesting release however was the iPhone.

Apple’s iPhone is ram packed with features. The iPhone runs a scaled down version of the Mac OS 10 operating system, which is usually found powering desktop Mac computers such as the Mac Pro. This operating system gives the iPhone enormous potential, some of which is demonstrated already on the iPhone.
One extremely cool feature is the iPhones image management software. The software gives you the ability to scale and resize images while browsing by stretching the image with your fingers. It’s all very Minority Report, if you know what I mean.

The iPhone also features Google Maps, redesigned for Mac by Google, full screen iPod functionality including video playback… and loads more.

I know its geeky, but its also very, very cool!
